Wayne and Carmel Creasey
March 5, 2015
In August last year I had the pleasure of finally meeting my Uncle Duncan.
From my early childhood I was aware that Aunty Joyce had married a Scotsman and that they were living in Canada with their two sons Ewen and Donald. For a boy growing up it was very exciting to have a Scottish uncle who was not only an aviator but one who flew in Lancaster bombers.
Duncan became a legendary figure, especially after mum and dad (Joyce's brother) took my brothers and me as kids to see "The Dambusters".
In later years mum and dad travelled to Canada to visit Joyce and Duncan. Duncan enjoyed better health those days, and he and Joyce spared nothing in showing my parents all the places of interest in beautiful British Columbia. They returned with stories about Duncan and what a keen sense of humour he had.
More recently my wife Carmel and I had the good fortune to spend some time in Lincoln UK and there we saw the "White Hart" Hotel where Joyce and Margaret once worked not far from Lincoln Cathedral. We also saw the small alcove nearby where Duncan proposed to Joyce.
While in Canada last year it was great to sit with Duncan and the rest of the family to hear more stories about Duncan's exploits - the places he had been and the adventures he was involved in. I came away full of respect and admiration for a man who obviously enjoyed life and lived it to the full. It was a privilege to have met him.
I know Duncan will be greatly missed by Joyce, their family and all who knew him.

Sad to hear about the passing of Duncan
He will always hold a strong affection for me
Duncan was instrumental for my being hired with B C Hydro Gas Division, working under his supervision in the Victoria gas Plant
So many good stories about his flying, Police duties and Fishing experiences
Duncan was an ideal supervisor, full of practical ideas and a great understanding of human nature
I will always remember our times spent together and the stories we shared
My sincere condolences to all his family

To Joyce and all the family, including Joyce's sister, Margaret, in Australia, who was so fond of Duncan, we send our condolences. Yes, Duncan will be missed…
But - do you know what? He's now "dancing the skies on laughter-silvered wings". Already he's done "a hundred things we have not dreamed of".
As Jim Knight says,
Happy Landing, Duncan.

I was very saddened to hear of Dunc's passing today especially since I've thought many times of looking him up to reminisce. I met Dunc at BC Hydro Gas Division where I and the other instrument techs thoroughly enjoyed his RAF (and other) stories. He was an awesome boss even though he told me I would never be an air force pilot because I failed his "pencil test"!!
Good news Dunc - you don't have to worry about the engines falling off the wings on this mission!!
Our sincerest condolences to Joyce and family.

I look at it this way ...... after a long, fascinating and enriched life, my old friend Duncan has flown off into the big blue yonder, something that was such a huge part of his earlier life.
I loved spending time with him and enjoyed listening to his RAF stories. He was such a passionate man, and
I shall treasure those moments shared with him.
Happy landing, my dear friend.
Jim Knight.
