Dr. Pugh (Dwight) was my professor in many Finance and Small Business classes at OU graduating class 1991. After my graduation, he and I spoke regularly. He inspired me in Finance and Small Business and encouraged me to be an entrepreneur and to help other small businesses succeed. He and I spoke about business opportunities and shared many times together going to auctions around Athens, Wellston and the area while having long talks in person and on the phone for the past 30 years. He will be missed...I will miss you Dwight for your abundance of knowledge and contribution to my life. I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Pugh's passing. He helped me as I struggled in college. I didn't think I would survive. I had always struggled. Through his encouragement, guidance and humor, I was able to obtain my undergraduate and subsequent masters' degree. He firmly believed each of us can become our best selves - regardless of humble or unfortunate beginnings. I was fortunate to be able to stay in contact with him through the years, but hadn't seen him in about a year. He was the type of friend you might not speak with for an extended time - but then be able to pick right up where you'd left off the next time you spoke. Until then, dear friend, thank you, Dwight, for everything you did to help me and so many others.

Dr Pugh taught several of my Business classes at OU. He made the subjects interesting and enjoyable, and was a favorite prof of mine. I'm very sorry to hear he's gone - he will be missed.

I was Dr. Pugh's Secretary at the University when he was the Chairperson of the Department of Administrative Sciences. He was a wonderful person to work for and with. He was one of the kindness people I have ever met. He achieved a great deal in his lifetime - but was always willing to share with others of his knowledge and wealth. I will never forget the day he brought a puppy to the office for my daughter (it was part collie and part St. Bernard). I asked what I should do with him until time to go home - his remark was just keep him under your desk. We named him Brutus and he was a wonderful addition to our family for many years. He was so kind to me when my Dad passed away. I have so many great memories of our time as boss and secretary. He will be missed. To his family I am sending my prayers.

I played softball for the Baron Men Shop back in the 80's. Dwight and Gerald traveled to many of our tournaments. Lots of good memories.
During that time I lost my job and Dwight helped me and my family through that tough time. When I graduated from college he gave me new clothes to get me looking good for my first teaching job. He was obedient to Matthew Chapter 6. He gave in secret to those in need. He sounded no trumpet before him. "And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." Thank you my friend!

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I taught in the College of Business with Dwight but in a different department. In all honesty I hardly knew him until our house burned down during Christmas. Night while we were visiting my husband's family in Warren, Ohio. We lost everything but the clothes we were wearing and a couple of fresh outfits. I got a message when I got back to work that Dwight Pugh was going to pick me up on Wednesday afternoon and take me to store he owned in Wellston to get anew wardrobe. I didn't even know who he was. I found out and thanked him, but told him that we had a good insurance policy and would be fine. Dwight insisted, so I decided to go and get an outfit. Not to be! He kept pulling clothes off the rack for me to try on. THEN, he bagged them all up an loaded me and more clothes than I had ever owned into the car. I didn't know what to do. My husband and I finally convinced him to let us pay his cost, but given how low that was, I doubt the accuracy of the number. Such a kind man!

I am one of very many individual whose lives were transformed for the much better based on his service as guidance counselor in Wellston High School. I was planning on visting with him again soon (last time was about a year ago), so this came as a huge shock.

Dwight did a lot of things behind the scenes one of which is the Veterans Memorial at Veterans Park by the ball fields. He and his high school classmates felt it was important for Wellston students to know the sacrifices that have been made for them. RIP Dwight

Family of our dear friend and Sponsor Dwight Pugh and Fred Cluft. What a team they were in business. And what a team we were for them with Baron's Softball, Athens County. We traveled and won (some losses) for Baron for many a summer in Athens. Town and Gown, OU and friends. And after we always ate we'll and laughed at Dwight's Ponderosa. Thank you Dwight and Fred for always going over board for Your Baron's Team. Your Players

Dwight was a kind man. I played ball for his Baron's Softball team in the 80's and we have some good memories. He also helped our family out during hard times but that's the kind of man he was. Never forgot about him. Sorry for your loss.

May You Rest In Peace Dwight. I will forever cherish the memories we made years ago at The Porterhouse and Harvey's. You would whip up some of the most amazing food I ever tasted and our long conversation's as you would try to take the country out of me ;) My deepest condolences to your family.

This loss is unbelievable, he was just at our house Sunday afternoon laughing and joking. We had many years of fun with Dwight in the neighborhood and will never forget his Chocolate Chip Cookies and Strawberry Pies. They were the best. We will really miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.
