Earl BROWN Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from Jul. 8 to Jul. 9, 2012.
BROWN, Earl Harvey
April 29, 1937 - July 5, 2012
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Earl Brown. Earl passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at age 75 after a long illness of Parkinson's and COPD. Mourning him are his wife of 51 years, Jeannine; his beloved daughter, Robin (Terry); brother, Lloyd (Jill), brothers-in-law: Adrian Brunet (Agnes), Marcel Brunet (Henriette); nephews: Denis Brunet (Colleen), Greg Brunet (Carla), David Brunet (Lisa), Evan Brown (Nic), David and James Brown (Dakota); nieces: Corinna Derewianchuk (Doug), Regina Derewianchuk (Richard), Teresa Brunet and Brittany Brown, as well as many cousins. Earl was predeceased by a son Perry; his brothers Larry and Barry; parents Herman and Nora Brown; parents-in-law Emile and Jeanne Brunet ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Leo and Irene Brunet; brother-in-law Gabriel Brunet and nephew Gerald Brunet. Earl worked in the road construction industry in all Prairie Provinces with a number of companies including his final employment with Top Notch Construction in Calgary. The most favored of all projects was phase 1 of Stony Trail. He was also a great stock racing enthusiast, as a car owner in Saskatoon's Bridge City Speedway where he also served as President of the Association. He relished many trips to Daytona Beach and Las Vegas to watch Sprint cars series. Earl had a deep passion for the Calgary Flames, thrilled over the 2004 run and when he no longer could attend games would watch on TV or listen on radio. Special thanks to our family Dr. Kathy Savona for unwavering emotional support, Dr. Massinger, the wonderful staff of Unit 71 at the Rocky View Hospital and dear Fr. Kevin Tumback and the 5 o'clock mass prayer family for all the prayers and assistance through the illness. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. If so desired, memorial donations may be made in Earl's name directly to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta (Western Building, 102-5636 Burbank Crescent SE, Calgary, AB. T2H 1Z6). To email expressions of sympathy: [email protected] subject heading: Earl Brown. Please excuse the lateness of these condolences. Earl was a very good friend when I was in LF High School, but we lost all contact when I left Manitoba. He had a car and spending money when I had neither, and he always took care of me on trips to Winnipeg, for example. I am truly sorry never to have seen him again; he was a great guy.

Our thoughts are with you. We were deeply saddened to learn of Earl's passing. At the same time, it brought back many happy memories of good times shared. Again, our deepest sympathy.

Dearest Jeannine and Robin: So sorry to hear that Earl has passed away. You both were such great friends to me and I will always cherish those wonderful years we spent together thru the SSCRA and BCS, even the times the great grey one gave me a talkin too and made me cry!! Earl was always a big presence, a generous soul and a great friend. What great memories I have and I can hear the sound of your laughter and Earls booming voice as I write this. Earl you were a hard worker on this earth, may you now rest in peace. Jeannine you are always in my thoughts. Hugs to both you and Robin.

We were very sorry to hear of Earl's passing. He was a much loved cousin and almost like a brother in our teen years. Being the same age, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh. We had many fun times together in Lowe Farm.
Our condolences go out to you Jeanine and Robin, you are in our thoughts and prayers these days. God bless!
