DALEVILLE — Earl F. Galbreath, 72, of Daleville, died July 9, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Earl was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Elwood, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Wilson) Galbreath.

He retired as a construction laborer for Local 1112 of Muncie and also worked for the Anderson Parks Department for eight years. He was in the National Guard 138th Division of Elwood from 1956-62. He graduated from the Anderson Police Academy in 1998. He was the Neighborhood Crime Watch coordinator in Anderson. 

Earl was a former member of the USAC Auto Club, member and past president of Eagles Lodge Alexandria 1771, member of Eagles Lodge Anderson 174 and member of the 9th Street Gang Car Club. He also volunteered for the Sarasota Florida Sheriff's Department ,and was a volunteer for the pediatric unit at Anderson Healthcare.

Earl loved hunting, fishing, auto racing and attending car shows all over.

He is survived by his wife Kathy (Buster) Galbreath of Daleville, whom he married Feb. 9, 1982; one son, Brian and wife Mandi Galbreath of Daleville; cherished grandchildren, Macey and Logun; longtime friend, Steve McCoy of Anderson; special pet, Jolee; and four children, Anthony, Joseph, Rebecca and Loretta from a previous marriage; seven brothers, Rich, Larry, Bill, Carl, Terry, Donnie and Albert; four sisters, Barbara Carmichael, Ethel Morris, Joyce Price and Frances Wilson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Shirley and Janette.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Gloria Long officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint John's Children's Clinic and Edgewater Woods Lifepath Unit.

Macey, Logun and family

He was my Jimmie Johnson buddy. He was a delight to know and a pleasure to talk with.He was very loved by Macey and Logun,they kept me informed when he was sick and in the hospital and back home. He truly will be missed.
