Earl Keller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 8 to Mar. 9, 2008.
p>Earl William Keller, Jr. Died March 5, 2008. He was the loving husband of Macel M. Leatherwood Keller, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia in 1924, he was the son of the late Earl W. Keller, Sr. and Edith M. Mason Keller.

A certified master plumber, he retired in 1988 from his work as a pipefitter and project planner at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.

Earlier employment included owning his own plumbing and heating business in Clayton, employment at New York Shipbuilding in Camden and teaching at the Camden County Vocational School. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas, in 1949.

He lived his entire married life in the Borough of Clayton and was actively involved in the community. He was the Borough¹s Plumbing

Inspector for many years and following his retirement, he continued to work part-time as the Borough¹s Code Enforcement Officer until his recent illness at age 83. He was a multi-talented craftsman, always busy on renovation and construction projects at his home. He especially enjoyed working with his Borough colleagues, providing support at community celebrations held in the Borough, and his membership as a Mason in USS New Jersey Lodge #362 where he was a White Apron brother.

Earl¹s greatest joy was time spent with family and friends, and he took great pride in his family of seven children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Macel of Clayton, son John and his wife Susan of Turnersville, son Roger and his wife Elizabeth of Waimea, Hawaii, son Eric of Nation Park, daughter Cindy Faulkner and her husband Michael of Kennett Square, Pa., son Carl and his wife Marie of Malaga, son Grant and his wife Margaret of Pitman, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Preston of Woodlynne, Paul of Mantua, Grant of Little River, S.C. and a sister, Myrtle Stillwell of Audubon.

He was predeceased by his daughter Diane in 2003 and his sister Ramona Clark in 2007.

Friends and relatives may call at 11 a.m. on March 11 at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, Broad and Maple Sts. Clayton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., with interment at Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, Earl would be honored by your contributions to the Ian Keller Trust, P.O. Box 6174, Kamuela, HI 96743.

Mrs. Keller and Family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Keller. I remember many happy times that Joey, Cathy, and I would come over to your house almost everyday. When we lived next door to you, both you and Mr. Keller always made us feel very welcome in your home. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. Take care knowing that you have a loving family with you during this sad time.
