BALTIMORE - Earl Louis "Junior" Snyder Jr., 81, a resident of McCormick Avenue, Baltimore, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005, in the University of Maryland Medical Center, from injuries he received from a fall at his home.
He was born June 12, 1923, in Shamokin Dam, Snyder County, Pa., a son of the late Earl L. and Hannah F. (Betzer) Snyder Sr.
Raised in Sunbury, Pa., Junior was a 1942 graduate of Sunbury High School and attended Bucknell University.
He served during World War II with the Navy in the armed guard as a gunners mate.
Earl was employed as superintendent of inspection for public building construction by the city of Baltimore for 31 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to his employment with the city of Baltimore, he was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
He was a member of the Wally Bynum Travel Club; the AARP; a life member of American Legion Post 201, Sunbury; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1532, Sunbury; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1242, Gardenville, Md.
Junior enjoyed Baltimore Orioles baseball, Baltimore Ravens football, and especially enjoyed traveling in his Airstream trailer throughout every state in the union.
Surviving are one sister, Marguerite A. Herman of Baltimore; one nephew and his wife, Juan T. and LaVerne Snyder of Pasadena, Md.; one grandnephew, Jason Snyder; one grandniece, Kimberly Bruchey; one great-grandnephew, Austin Bruchey; and one great-grandniece, Nicole Williams.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, 900 Packer St., Sunbury, with the Rev. Adrian Shearer, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sunbury, officiating. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations.
Local arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy.

1942 Classmate, I was Phyllis Spooner, now widow of Oscar Troutman. Earl was a wonderful classmate, am sure he will be missed. Sleep well Earl!!!

I was Madalyn Underkoffler before I married. I lived on N. 5th st. and went to school with Jr. at the 6th ward and graduated in 1942. I was sorry to here of his death. You have my sympathy.
