Memorial services for Ed Cabell,79, will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Marvin United Methodist Church chapel.

Ed was born in Titus County and grew up in Hawkins. He excelled in football, baseball and track and received a scholarship to Texas A&M to play football under Coach Bear Bryant.

Ed is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Diane and Beth and their husbands, grandchildren Sarah, Cate and Nick and his sister Sharon and her husband.

Ed worked as a claims supervisor for Safeco Insurance in Dallas and in the home office of Equitable Property and Casualty until 1982 when he opened Frontier Adjusters of Tyler.

Ed enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, Whataburgers, and family gatherings. He served proudly in the Army at the Twelfth Corps Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Every Sunday you could count on seeing Ed in the same pew in the Marvin Methodist sanctuary and in the same chair in the Pairs and Parents Sunday School class.

Ed's family gives thanks for God's mercy and faithfulness and for the staffs of Brookdale, Visiting Angels and Hospice Plus. Memorials may be made to Marvin Methodist Eternal Flame Fund, 300 W. Erwin St. Tyler, TX 75702 or Alzheimer's Alliance of NE TX, 211 Winchester Dr, Tyler, TX 75701.
