Eddie Dean Rogers

Eddie Dean Rogers, 48 year old Checotah resident, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He was born on Saturday, January 28, 1961 in Checotah, Oklahoma to John Arthur and Vivian Versie Brewer Rogers. Eddie grew up in Checotah where he received his education. At the age of 18, he began working for GTE Telephone in Broken Arrow on the line crew, later becoming a central office tech, doing installations and repairs. Eddie married Billie "Bubbles" Moore on November 26, 1982 in Muskogee, OK where they made their home for over 26 years. At the time of his death, Eddie was a supervising technician, overseeing the offices in the area of the Southern Region for Windstream. On Monday, March 16, 2009, he married Michelle Hill-Myers in Russellville, Arkansas. Eddie was a gifted musician, a gift given by God to him that he used to bring glory and honor to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was very active in many areas of ministry, he was a worship leader, and he preached and taught the youth at Grace Ministries in Muskogee. On Sunday, March 26, 2006, Eddie was ordained into the ministry at Destiny Center in Checotah, OK where his brother Roy Rogers is the Pastor. On Saturday, July 14, 2007, Eddie celebrated with his family the marriage of his youngest son, Michael and his bride, Michelle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snow skiing with his family and loved working in the yard. He was known by many as a "True Friend" and "A Man of Purpose". He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his Dad, John Rogers; Step-dad, Tom Ritchie; his first wife, Jeannie Miller, mother of his daughter Katrina Rogers; and sibling infant triplets. Eddie is lovingly survived by his wife Michelle of the home; Two Sons, Jarrod Rogers and Michael Rogers and his wife Michelle and his unborn grandchild of Michael and Michelle ; His boys mother, Billie "Bubbles" Rogers, all of Muskogee, OK; A Daughter, Katrina Rogers and her husband David Arnett and twin granddaughters, Jeannie and Janie Arnett all of Leedy, OK; Three step-children, William and Jacob Myers of Checotah, OK and Christina Hutchin of Woodland, CA; His Mom, Vivian Ritchie of Checotah, OK; Four sisters, Gloria Foster and husband Clinton, Janette Skinner and her husband Ray all of Checotah, OK., Gail Tanner and her husband, Harold of Tuttle, OK, and Mary Tackett and her husband Perry of Greenbriar, AR; Five brothers, Jimmy Rogers and his wife Charlotte, Buddy Rogers and his wife Faye, Roy Rogers and his wife Ann all of Checotah; Rocky Rogers and his wife Kathy of Reedley, CA, and his twin brother Freddie Rogers of Checotah, OK. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends. Eddie's family will greet friends 5PM to 7PM Friday, May 22, 2009 at Garrett Funeral Home. A celebration of Eddie's life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 23, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Checotah with Pastor Roy Richmond, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Darren Rogers, Donnie Rogers, Rusty Rogers, Rodney Rogers, Jason Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Charles Skinner and Sammy Roberts serving as Casket Bearers. Bill Vaughn, Leon Clymer, Mark Forrest, Bobby Sherbourne, Sam Arthur, and Robert Baker will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
