Eddie Wong (1933 - 2023)

Eddie Wong, 89, of Aurora, CO, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Oct 20, 2023.

Eddie was born Dec 21, 1933 in Portsmouth, VA to Sai Mun Wong and Lim Shee Wong. Eddie was one of 10 children. When he was a toddler, his parents relocated the growing family to San Antonio, Texas. Eddie was raised in San Antonio, and attended public schools, where he excelled scholastically and athletically. Eddie became an accomplished tennis player, where he won numerous tournament titles. His achievements in tennis earned him an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Texas at Austin.

At UT Austin, Eddie studied engineering, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his college years, he met his future wife, Florence Fong, whom he married soon thereafter. Eddie and Florence were married for 65 years. They had two sons Kenneth and James.

After college graduation, Eddie began his career as test engineer for various companies in aerospace and defense industries: Martin Marietta, Westinghouse, Lockheed Martin. These work assignments took him and his family to Colorado, then to eastern Idaho, where he worked many years for U.S. Dept. of Energy's Idaho National Lab. He and Florence eventually returned to Colorado in 1981, where they resided ever since.

Eddie was an avid outdoorsman. He cultivated and expanded his interests for the outdoors (fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, etc.) whenever and wherever he could. Residency periods in eastern Idaho and Montana were noted as favorite times by both Eddie and Florence. Eddie especially loved to travel and seek adventure. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially in fixing and restoring classic VW automobiles...with his large assortment of tools.

Eddie leaves behind Florence, and son James (Susi), and grandchildren Danny, Cori, and Brian. He was preceded in death by son Kenneth.

In lieu of a memorial service, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Eddie.
