Edgar Sweeney III Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 17 to Jan. 19, 2023.
Edgar Wellington Sweeney III (Thumper) passed away with his dearest friend Debra Sweeney by his side on November 30, 2022. He was born August 29, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in North Little Rock. He was a 1971 graduate at Arkansas State University in Conway, but his love was always music. He played guitar in the best rock and roll bands in Arkansas and continued to play guitar throughout his life.

His friends remember Thumper from his days at Lash LaRue clothing store to the Ranch stores and on to become the senior vice-president of Fredericks of Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. By the eighties, he checked out of the fashion world and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to become the sale manager of Chris Motors. After succeeding in his career at Chris Motors, he moved back to North Little Rock/Maumelle and before retiring, he worked a few years at Caldwell Toyota in Conway, Arkansas.

He is predeceased by his parents, Edgar Wellington Sweeney Jr and Mary Leota McNatt Sweeney, and his brother, Dalton Packmore.

He is survived by his nephew, Andy Packmore and sister-in-law, Gail Packmore in Houston, Texas and dearest friend, Debra Sweeney, and other friends living throughout the United States.

Thinking of Thumper's talent in music, fashion design and sales bring us back to his incredible spirit and kindness. As his spirit leaves the earth, his loving kindness will live through all who knew him.

Thumper rocked!

Memorial services will be determined later. Donations may be made to the Arkansas Heart Association and/or purchase a tree in Edgar Sweeney's name.

Thumper was my neighbor on Skyline Drive. I played pool with him and our other neighborhood kids and listened to his band practice- good memories.
Condolences to his family,
