NEW BEDFORD - Edith (Dakin) Faber, 88, of Fairhaven passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Faber.

Born and brought up in Acushnet, the daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Tomlinson) Dakin, she lived in New Bedford prior to living in Interlacken, FL for 29 years before returning to the area and settling in Fairhaven in 1999. She was a member of the Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church.

She had worked in the textile industry for many years prior to becoming a nurse's aide while in Florida until retiring in 1985.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Westgate and her companion Paul Wylie of Fairhaven and Pamela Lima and her husband Gilly of Dartmouth; a son, Arthur Barber and his companion Mary Geary of Raynham; three step sons, Edward Ryan and his wife Sandra of Clovis, CA, Michael Faber and his wife Joyce of Punta Gorda, FL and Daniel Faber and his wife Anne of Dartmouth; a daughter in law, Jane Faber of Miami, FL; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Faber was the stepmother of the late Partrick Faber and sister of the late Wilfred, John and Leslie Dakin, Dorris Denham, Rosetta Karwoski and Hazel Thompson.

Her Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 PM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Cremation will follow and interment will be private.
