I was so sorry to hear of Edith's passing. She was my friend, my babysitter and when I was at St. George's an inspiration to a young girl. She was also a very good friend to my late mother and was very supportive when she passed this summer.

My love and best wishes go out to my other babysitter, Jane, Susie and their families. She was a great lady.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs Low-Beer and we offer our most sincere condolences to the family.

Edith was a special person who was concerned for many of our vulnerable citizens and had a soft place in her heart for those who had a mental illness.

West Island Citizen Advocacy has been the recipient of her generosity for some time. She was passionate about helping those 42 persons struggling with a mental illness in our Church Apartment Program and for all the hundred persons living with a mental illness who had a volunteer citizen advocate to support them. She has enriched the lives of our protégés and residents through her kindness.

Her generosity and passion are a shining example to us all. A plaque in her memory will be placed in our office so that we may always remember Edith and how special she was.

Edith Low-Beer was such a passionate lady and she will be missed by all who ever made her acquaintance. She was a friend to the arts in Montreal but, more than that, was a caring and wonderful person. It is not often that a person like her comes around.

With much love for her,

Edith was a great woman - full of fun, exploration, and enough mischief to keep things lively when she was in the room. Her art captured captured her boldness and whimsy.

To the Family of Mrs. Edith Low-Beer:
It is with great sadness and regret that we have learned about the death of Mrs. Edith Low-Beer. Her departure will create a great void in our community since Mrs. Low-Beer’s social involvement was extremely important, greatly significant to all of us. We met Mrs. Low-Beer more than 10 years ago; she came to visit our Day Centre in Pierrefonds. She was a kind woman with an incredible capacity to listen. She recognized the importance of our services and always gave us her full support. Whenever we met with Mrs. Low-Beer, she always showed concerns about the welfare of our participants. We will forever remember her humanity and devotion to the less fortunate among us.
On behalf of Centre Bienvenue’s board members, staff, volunteers, participants and myself, I wish to express to Mrs. Edith Low-Beer’s family our sincere, deepest condolences.
Benoît Vallée, Director,
Centre Bienvenue

I have memories of Edith that date back to her volunteering as librarian at St. George's School. A warm presence with authority that brought total respect. And then of her with pastels in her hand amidst smoke shacks on the edge of the bay of Fundy on Grand Manan Island. Always daring to bring another perspective to the paper and to the group. She was a grande dame in so many ways. May her memory be a blessing. I send my sincere sympathy to Susan and the family.
