Edith Elizabeth "Edie" Walker

Edith Elizabeth Walker, also known as Edie, passed away on November 17, 2023, at the age of 57 in Hedgesville, WV. She was born on February 19, 1966, in Silver Spring, MD, to her parents Rose Baker Chinn and the late David Chinn. Edie was a loving and compassionate person who dedicated her life to helping others.

Edie's career was centered around her passion for assisting the elderly. From 2008 to 2015, she worked as a Licensed Social Worker for West Virginia DHHR, Adult Protective Services. She was devoted to making a positive impact on the lives of those she served.

Aside from her professional endeavors, Edie had a deep affection for her family and her cat, Emily. She was known for her kind-hearted nature and her willingness to care for numerous stray animals. Edie cherished the time spent with her loved ones, including her husband, Frank Walker, and her children, Gordon Walker III, Christine Laban (David), and Timothy Walker (Caitlin). She also adored her grandchildren, Eiley and Axton Laban, and Rowan Walker.

Edie is survived by her mother, Rose Baker Chinn, her sisters Grace Wilson and Mary Chinn, her brother David Chinn, her second mother June Walker, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, David Chinn, her brother Frank Chinn, her sister Pamela Chinn, her niece Courtney Leishear, and her second father, Gordon Walker.

Edie's educational journey led her to Shepherd University, where she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Her time at Shepherd University provided her with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue her career in helping others.

A celebration of Edie's life will be held by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA or the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions to these organizations will honor Edie's love for animals and her dedication to supporting those affected by Alzheimer's disease.

Edith Elizabeth Walker, known for her caring and compassionate nature, will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire others to make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.
