Edna Fern Short, 86, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Christian Care Center Lancaster. She was born September 20, 1921, in Breathitt County to Brack and Naomi Herald. She was a 25-year employee of Westinghouse.Mrs. Short was preceded in death by: her husband of 61 years, Ike Short; two children, Shirley Jean Parke and Roger Brack Short; and siblings, Joyce Knight and Douglas Herald. She is survived by: daughters, Mary Babine and Lucille McDermott of Louisville; son, Grant Short of Richmond; brothers and sisters, Francis Gabbard, Richard and R.B. Herald, Jean Eaton, Martha Lakes, Carolyn Butler. Beverly Kirby, all of Lebanon, Ohio, and Hazel Coates of Richmond; grandchildren, Randy Parke, Debbie Jarvis, Michelle Florian, RaNae Hatfield, Austin, R. Brett and Kristi Short, Dana and Danielle Babine, Bridget Mather, Kelly McDermott; and eight great-grandchildren.Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home.
