Edna Sue Corder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2014.
Edna Sue Corder, of Midwest City, died on Thursday, August 14, 2014. She was born on August 30, 1943 in Okemah, OK to General Jackson and Girtha Lucille Moore.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Sylvia Lott and Billy Moore. Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, David; brother, Donald Moore (Norma); sons, Ron and Richard Corder; and numerous extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Sue grew up in the community of Mason, OK graduating from Mason High School where she was a member of the basketball team. Sue was also a member of the Central Oklahoma's Quilters Guild and an expert seamstress. She had a passion for quilting and created small quilts and blankets that she gifted at baby showers for her relatives and friends. Sue was a frequent volunteer to the HUGS project until her health prevented attendance. She was always a friendly host, and on many occasions opening her home to frequent visitors. She was a well-established cook and her specialty treat was pecan pies. Some believed she was the best at making jelly which she enjoyed sharing with everyone. Sue was a member of Sooner Baptist Church where she regualry attended until her health limited her participation.

In lieu of flowers, Sue, requested that donations be made to the HUGS Project. Her family would like to thank Excell Hospice for their friendly service, especially Nurse, Michael Ann Morgan. Her celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Sooner Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw. I can remeber the San Fransisco trip. Driving south on PC 1 and watching the dog precariously balance himself driving on that curvy road to San Simeon.

I only knew Sue for a short time, but we immediately hit it off. I feel certain that given more time, we would have been long-time friends. Thank you for sharing your love of quilting and cooking/baking with me. Rest in peace my sweet friend.

David, Ronnie, & Richie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and mother. Sue always cared about her family and friends very much. She was such a wonderful person through and through. She always welcomed everyone in her home even if she hadn't seen you for a long time. I loved to hear her laugh. She was a very caring and talented lady. She listened to me when were neighbors in Del City and I was having trouble in my marrage. I always felt better after talking to Sue. I think about all of you often. In the coming days remember the good times and know that she is in heaven and helping God with all the children and you will see her again. You and your family are in my prayers at your time of loss,

I can remember when I was little she would let me stay with her for my whole summer break and we would go shopping and go to the hair salon. I would help her bake lots of goodies. I will miss her very much she was like my second mom.

Sue did have a silly side.David & Sue invited Rich and me over to dinner one night and there in front of me was a big bowl of mashed Potatoes. No one was eating them,so I thought wow more for me.I grabbed a big helping and took a big bite,my eyes crossed and my head started spinning around like Linda Blair, the Exorcist chick.Well the whole table erupted into laughter.Sue made my mashed potatoes out of turnips.Never seen her laugh so hard lol.
