Dear Arees family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I was a student of Professor Arees at Northeastern. One day a few years after I graduated I ran into Prof. Arees walking Baley at White's Pond. I was reminded of my college days and his class where he would give some students nicknames!
Then one day ( I am a local dog walker) we got a call to help out with Baley. While at your house I reminded Prof. Arees that I was a student of his and how I met him and Baley at White's pond. He told me that out of all his students I had the best job! That is a story I love to tell people. I am sorry this is arriving so long after your loss.

My name is Jerry O'Connor born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Ed I and were born in the same year, 1933. I knew Eddie (as we all called him) from a group of a closely-knit guys who lived in the same Bay Ridge area. My home was on 80th street, the furthest from 87th street. I am very fond of those days with Eddie and all his friends. There were few people with whom I would feel comfortable...Eddie was among those. I remember so well that group...Eddie, Jay Shields, Ben Cimino (my best man), Pete Johnson.
I am so very sorry to learn of Eddie's passing. He will be sorely missed but he leaves a wonderful legacy to his loving wife and family.
Sincerely,
Jerry O'Connor

Dear Jane, Steve, Mark and Liz,

I am so sorry to hear of your Ed / Your Dad's passing. He was a special part of my high school years. In those years, he was one of the only fathers of my friends that actually took the time to get to know me. He would not let me talk to Steve without a long conversation prior. These conversations were always filled with many questions, jokes and at times advice. He was a social, funny, charismatic and humble man. He was a man of many hobbies from photography to music and more. He was always curious by nature and always interesting to talk to. To me, his most notable quality was his sincere kindness.

I am sure you will miss him terribly. Please take comfort knowing he made a big impact on many lives, including mine. I think back on conversations with him with fondness and a smile.
My thoughts are prayers are with you. I know he is resting comfortably now.

With love, Tom Hoff and family

Jane, Elizabeth, Mark & Steve,
We were touched by all the wonderful family candids and Ed's beautiful scenic photos. It reminded us of the lovely photos he took for Chrisa's weddings. We enjoyed his friendship and remember his kind friendly smile. May your loving memories be a comfort.

To the Arees Family, We are so sorry and sad to hear about our Dad's beloved friend and colleague Ed. We so fondly remember him chasing us down the halls of Northeastern with his crazy commentary about our hair, fingernails, clothing choices, etc. Truly a one of a kind man whose wit and humor surpassed even our dad's, which is really hard to do! On behalf of our Dad, Mom and the entire Karis Family, We love you, Ed. You will always hold a special place in our hearts and you will never be forgotten.
