BABICKE Edward Thomas Babicke Corrections officer at Rikers Island, 58 Edward Thomas Babicke, 58, of Bedminster died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Atlantic Hospice at Care One in Morristown after a long illness. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapack, N.J. 07977, (908) 234-0590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, 111 Claremont Ave., Bernardsville, N.J., at 10 a.m. Everyone will meet directly at church. A private cremation will follow. Born in Brooklyn to the late Edward F. and Anne (Brown) Babicke, Mr. Babicke lived in Bedminster for many years. He was a corrections officer for the New York City Department of Corrections at Rikers Island for over 20 years until his retirement. Mr. Babicke was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Emerald Society of the New York City Department of Corrections. He was an avid animal lover. He is survived by his wife, Robin Forish; a stepson, Barrett Michael Forish, and three brothers, James, Richard and Peter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O. Box 43, Forked River, N.J. 08731 would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home during visitation.

I was saddened to learn of Ed's passing. I still have the Ping 5 wood he gave me, the sweetest swinging club in my bag. I will always remember the twinkle in his eye and the smile on his face. I hope Tony and Ed are sharing a laugh right now.
