Edward Blewett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 23 to May 27, 2013.
Edward Arthur Blewett, 79, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Sally (Mann) Blewett for 55 years, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

The son of the late Marion and Edward Y. Blewett, Edward was born in Manchester, N.H. Growing up he lived in Arlington, Va., and Columbus, Ohio, but the place he called his hometown was Durham, N.H., where he attended local schools and then the University of New Hampshire. Edward honorably served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany, which led to many a story. After the service and college, Ed went to work for the Boy Scouts of America, where he met Sally, and eventually they moved to Enfield and raised their family.

Edward is survived by his children, a son, Scott Blewett and his wife, Pamela, of Somers; a daughter, Pamela Sanborn and her husband, Lewis, of Enfield; and a son, Todd Blewett and his wife, Eileen, of Killingworth; and by his grandchildren, David and Courtney Blewett of Somers and Ryan, Lauren, Matthew, and Sarah Blewett of Killingworth who all gave him so much joy. Edward is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Stevens; sister-in-law, Helen Blewett; his brothers-in-law, Bernard Mann and his wife, Ruth, and David Fitz and his companion, Liz Hollingsworth; as well as several nieces, Elizabeth Sullivan, Kimberly Blewett, Alyson Blewett, Heather Renaud, and Joanne Davis. Also left to remember Edward are his step-grandchildren, Craig Sanborn and Stacey Dolan with their families; and Edward's longtime friends from the neighborhood. Edward was predeceased by a brother, John Blewett.

A memorial service celebrating Edward's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 383 Hazard Ave., Enfield. The graveside service and burial will be private.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 383 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082; or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
