Edward Buck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2025.
Edward Jones Buck, born on September 2, 1944, in Stockton, California, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at Kaiser Vallejo, with his beloved daughter Angela and son-in-law Anthony Brennan by his side. In his final moments, Ed was surrounded by the soothing sounds of his favorite jazz artist, Miles Davis.

Ed was the son of George F. Buck and Barbara J. Buck. He dedicated many years of his life to serving as a shipfitter at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard until its closure in 1996. He continued his public service career with the Social Security Administration in Richmond, California until he retired in 2022.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Irene Del Rosario Buck, who passed away in 2013. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Anthony Brennan, as well as his long time partner, Vicky Santos, and her children and grandchildren.

An avid fan of jazz music, Ed cultivated an impressive collection of records and found joy in procuring fine wine, particularly from Kermit Lynch in Berkeley. He was known for his active involvement in Vallejo's local politics, passionately supporting local candidates and charities. You would find Ed in his spare time patronizing local small businesses in Vallejo, enjoying a nice dinner and glass of red wine with his partner Vicky, or visiting and traveling with Angela and Tony. He was a Bay Area sports fan and loved watching the 49ers play either at home or with his long-time Monday night football pool. He particularly loved baseball and the San Francisco Giants and enjoyed going to games at the ballpark.

Ed's last vacation was a memorable trip to New Orleans in 2022, where he enjoyed his first visit to the city-sitting front row to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and meeting the band members after.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, April 4, 2025, 11am, at Twin Chapels Funeral Home, 1100 Tennessee St, Vallejo CA.

Edward's spirit, love of music, and support for his community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

I met Ed from my ex-husband Wayne Lake who passed away last August.
We spend many dinners with him. He was a great guy and funny. We always had a good laugh with him. My condolences to his family.

Uncle Buck. I am saddened by the news of Uncle Buck passing. I remeber all the times at the family barbecues and parties. Uncle Buck always had a kind heart and never spoke I'll of anyone.

Not many know this but I would spend time talking with Uncle Buck during family events. He always had the best advice, becuase he came from a different background from my family. I will always remeber those times.

He had a beautiful home with my aunt Irene when I was growing up. I loved their house and all the antique and eclectic items and art they had. Still couldn't figure how the got the huge dining room mirror in the house Still remember moving day, and how we engineered getting the large items up the swirl staircase.

My heart hurts for my cousin Angela and her husband Anthony. Losing a parent is always challenging.

Rest in peace Uncle Ed. You will always be remembered.

Your nephew, Tim Del Rosario and family.

When I first met Ed, he gave me yellow roses, and I´ve loved roses ever since. I´m going to miss him, especially for the way he treated my children-especially my daughter and granddaughter-with such kindness. We shared many good times together, like watching Monday night football and going to Napa and other places for lunch and dinner. Ed was a truly good man. I have so many wonderful memories of him, and though he´s no longer here, he will always be in my heart.

Ed´s always had a special way of making me feel loved. He called me his Filipina daughter with pride and affection. That simple phrase held so much warmth-it made me feel loved, and cherished.

His kindness and love will stay with me forever. Though he is gone, I will always be grateful for the love he gave. May he rest in peace
