Bush Jr., Edward J
Jul. 13, 1942 - Nov. 23, 2017
Edward Joseph Bush, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida passed away on November 23, 2017. Edward J. Bush, Jr. was born and raised in New Kensington, Pa. Ed graduated from "Ken-Hi" in 1960 excelling in academics and football. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. As a 1964 graduate midshipman Ed selected to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp as a 2nd Lieutenant. Serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, Ed received the Purple Heart among other distinguished honors. He continued a military reserve career until 1972 which led to the rank of Major. Ed attended George Washington University and received his Juris Doctorate degree. He was a member of the Washington D.C. Bar Association and a Chartered Life Underwriter.
With more than 35 years of experience in the Life Insurance industry, Ed's professional career led to management positions in the United States and worldwide. Through his extensive travels Ed acquired many business associates and close friends throughout the world. In 2011 Ed retired to Sarasota, Florida to be near his loving family, (brother) Victor, (sister-in-law) Jaynie and (nephew) Brian. A weekly high-light was the Sunday breakfast with conversation down "memory lane". These "round table" meetings always led to much laughter, singing of the "oldies" and worldly adventures . He so loved his earned family nick name of "Crazy Uncle Eddie". Ed's kindness, generosity, encouragement and words of wisdom will be greatly remembered by family and many friends that he made along the way. Eddie is preceded in death by his much loved parents, Edward and Marie. Mom Bush never called him Ed, he was always "Eddie Beau" to Mom and family. Military Honors will be conducted at the Sarasota Memorial Cemetery on Clark Road, Sarasota, FL on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. by the National Cremation Society.
Ed's military buddies knew that he lived..."Semper Fi" and "Got your 6"!

I met Ed in Chicago in 1983 and we were close friends until he moved to Saudi Arabia for work. I met up with him again some years later in London, Paris and Rome. years after that we lost touch. I recently asked another friend of his if he had word of Ed and Allen found his Obituary. We were both so saddened to learn of his death. Ed had such a big, friendly, open personality. He knew no strangers. His personality bridged all social strata-he talked with fun, good humor and equality to the elite and the lay people of the world. He could do amazing impressions of people. You really loved them until he did one of you!! I will always remember Ed with love and deep affection. I know he is making everyone laugh and feel included wherever his spirit is now.

Bushy was one of my closest friends during his years in Prague with AMCICO. We spent many Saturday afternoons at Rugantino's, which was in those days the only good place for pizza here. Many weekends over his house in Prague 4 relaxing in the Lazy Boy chair watching TV together. I remember well visiting him in Moscow at his guarded apartment compound when he moved there to run the AIG office. I unfortunately lost track of him after his Moscow days and often wondered where he had move to. He was a great person and he will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

Uncle Bush was a regular at our restaurant for years and was well-loved by the staff here. He was notorious for overtipping, which speaks to his kind and generous nature. Ed always engaged staff in friendly conversation, and it was interesting to learn of his work and travels all over the globe. One would think a decorated Marine who served two tours of Vietnam would be a tough character, but not Uncle Bush. Always quick with a joke and a smile, Ed was a gentle soul and our favorite customer. Although he once told me that he did not profess any particular religion, we were delighted when he attended a ceremony by Buddhist monks from Thailand just a few months prior to his passing. Uncle Bush, thanks for the light you brought our world.

When my daughter was working in Rome, she called me one day and asked if I knew someone named Eddie Beau. I said that I sure did and that I remembered him well. Not too long afterward, I visited my daughter, had dinner with Ed and got to hear the exciting adventure that was his life! Handsome, gracious, brilliant, yet humble, he was one of NK's finest. I was grateful to have had the opportunity to hang out with him in Rome that one last time, hear about his successes and learn how he loved the life he lived and lived he life he loved. RIP, Eddie Beau! Condolences to his family in losing such a fine fine man.

Ed and I were good buddies throughout high school, and played next to each other on the Ken High football team, he at center and myself at right guard. We lost contact for most of the years after high school, but through others, I kept track of his activities, and last saw him at one of the reunions. He was a great guy, and never boring, with always something interesting underway.

My very deepest sympathy to all members of Eddie's family, and his many friends. Eddie was a well respected classmate, and deserved the respect.

Deepest sympathies to Vic and his family.
Great times with Eddie Beau while living in ACT and later in high school.
Will never forget the times that Ed and I would walk down the hill to the river to catch some catfish and the memorable trout fishing trips to the Quigley camp.

Vic, Janie and Brian,
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Eddie was a great person and very dedicated to the protection of this country. I really respected him for that. I spend a lot of time at the VFW in Lower Burrell doing for the Veterans. What a great group of men and women. I know that Ed and Larry will be together in Heaven together.

You and your family are in my prayers.
