Edward Gene Chappel
Edward Gene Chappel passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 in Provo, following a long illness.
Gene was born August 12, 1931 in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was the eldest son of Edward Joseph and Cecil Ann Jones Chappel. He grew up in Spanish Fork and attended Elementary, Junior High and High School there. He enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years. He met Nola Benson in Payson, Utah and they were married on January 25, 1951 in Gene's parents home in Spanish Fork. Nola and Gene spent the next four years living in various places while Gene served in the military. Gene spent one year of his service in England. Gene and Nola bought a cute little home in Spanish Fork when Gene left the military. They lived there for about two years and then purchased a home in Payson. It was in this home that they raised their three children, Robert, Gary and Lori. Gene worked for Geneva Steel as an electrician until they shut the plant down and he retired. Gene will be greatly missed and remembered for his love and appreciation of the outdoors, his support of family and friends and his great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time on the computer and doing odd jobs around the house. He had been active in the American Legion for a number of years.
Gene was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Ted and sister, Cleo. He is survived by: his wife, Nola; sons, Robert Gene of St. George, Utah and Gary Lynn (Cary) of Twin Falls, Idaho; and daughter, Lori (Kent) Burton of St. George, Utah. My heart goes out to the Chappel family for your loss. I remember hanging out at your house growing up, and how much we enjoyed your dad's sense of humor and kind spirit. Your family will be in our prayers

I'm so sorry for your lost. He made working at Geneva fun and taught me very much about small motors.
