Edward Czarkowski Obituary
Born in Scranton, son of the late Stanley and Frances Sirmirnowicz Czarkowski, he was educated in Scranton schools. He proudly served in the Army during World War II, and was a part of the Allied Occupation of Japan. Before his retirement, he was a sergeant for 28 years in the Scranton Police Department.
Edward was an avid gardener, and was a Gene Autry fan.
Edward's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Gino Merli Veterans Center for their compassionate care as well as to the nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Also surviving are sons, Edward L. and wife, Donna, Scranton; James, Laceyville; and David and companion, Tammy Bryk Zielinski, Scranton; a daughter, Mary Ann Czarkowski, Carbondale; four grandchildren, Lisa Czarkowski and husband, John Whiteduck, Scranton; Edward Czarkowski, New Mexico; Amy Hall and husband, Howard, Maryland; and Ryan J. Czarkowski, Moosic; six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton. Interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Just found out about Sgt. Ed.
Sarge worked security at the Green Ridge Club in Scranton for many years.
I was a waiter there from 1983 til 2003. He was part of our family during that time. I'll never forget his great smile, personality and his way of calming potential troublemakers down!
On behalf of the former management and staff of the original Green Ridge Club , I extend my condolences to Sgt. Ed's family.
