Edward F. Alf died peacefully with family by his side on January 3, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ed was married 66 years to his beloved wife, Mary Jean “Madge” Alf (nee Greiwe). He is survived by his children: Karen Rolfes (Michael), Edward F. Alf, III (Debbie Horton), Marianne Castrucci (Matt), Kathi Bagnoli (Sean), and Michael J. Alf (Jackie Jurgensen), all of Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, he leaves behind his sister Mary Ansley (Woody) of Fernandina Beach, FL.
Ed has 13 grandchildren: Brandon Rolfes, Chelsea Rolfes, Amanda Rolfes Grote (Drew), Chad Rolfes, Holyn Alf, Edward "Duke" F. Alf, IV, Marjorie Alf, Rowan Castrucci, Matthew Castrucci, Drew Bagnoli, Wilson Bagnoli, John Alf, and Jennifer Alf.
Ed was born on February 18, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Summit Country Day, St. Xavier High School (1953), and Xavier University (1957).
Ed married Madge in 1958. They have been best friends since grade school and have had a special devotion to each other ever since. They maintained a busy life raising five children, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite places to visit included: Harbor Springs, Ocean Reef, and Amelia Island.
In addition to his family, Ed was committed to his business career. After working at Mead Paper, Ed acquired Korb Check Printers, a supplier of checks to local financial institutions. Ed also invested in real estate, a boat dealership, and other business ventures. Ed seemed to have the golden touch and credits his success to hard work and creating win-win business relationships. Ed was a great mentor to many and always wanted to give back to help others.
Ed was a man of faith, a devout Catholic, and attended mass regularly at St. Gertrude Church. He loved all sports, especially golf, tennis, and fishing. Ed had a great sense of humor that made people smile and created a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, at St. Gertrude Church, 7630 Shawnee Run Road, 45243, from 11:00 a.m. until the mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be considered for St. Xavier High School in honor of the Edward and Mary Jean Alf Scholarship Fund, Hospice of Cincinnati, or Alzheimer’s Association.

To the Alf family,
Tim & I are terribly sad to hear of Ed's passing.
We met Ed sometime in the late 70's. Tim's father introduced us. It was truly a blessing.
Ed always had a smile on his face, a kind greeting and enjoyed life, with his beautiful wife and family!
We are fortunate to have known him.
Our thoughts are with you!
