Edward Forde Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7, 2009.
FORDE, Edward July 02, 1940 Ed passed away peacefully on January 31, 2009, surrounded by family members and the sounds of his favourite jazz music. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he studied music at the Royal Conservatory in London and played saxophone, clarinet and flute at various nightclubs. He served in the British Army as a bandsman for eight years. After leaving the army, Ed became a welder. In 1974, he immigrated to Canada, where he worked as a member of the Iron Worker's Local 720 and received Honorary Lifetime Membership in 2008. Ed is dearly missed and forever loved by his wife Jeanie (Milkovich), daughter Anita, son Zachary; grandsons Edward, Alex and Jared; and his family and many friends around the world. We fondly remember his wonderful Irish sense of humour; his passion for jazz music, his love of story telling, photography, reading, traveling, designing, building, and landscaping; and above all, his love for family and friends. Sincerest appreciation is extended to Dr. L. Torok-Both, Dr. S. Kumar, Kay Robertson, Gwen Bosch and all Fort Saskatchewan Hospital and Homecare staff; Margaret and the Rexall Drug staff; and the Cross Cancer and Royal Alexandra Hospital staff; all for their professional care and guidance. As Ed wished, a service and a wake will be held in Southend, England. At later dates, wakes will also be held in Fort Saskatchewan and in Bali, Indonesia. Fort Memorial Ltd. has provided cremation services. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to a charity or a community organization of one's choice. Condolences may be sent to: [email protected] Gordon and Cindy Kadatz directors in care of arrangements.

Jeanie, I have so many wonderful memories of working together with you at the Wye School, and I also have received various reports that your teaching career was rich as you worked overseas. I want to express my heartfelt condolences for your loss. The rich background described in Edward's obituary tell me that you are losing a wonderful treasure. May the memories of your wonderful relationship enrich you even as you mourn the loss.

Please accept our deepest condolences. We only met Ed a few times but thoroughly enjoyed his dry sense of humour.
