After fighting cancer for more than two years, Ed passed away peacefully at the age of 71, on February 23, 2012.
Ed was part of a very large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents John Goralczyk, Anna Swiderska Brown and his sister Victoria Jean Stephens. He is survived by his children Daniel and Cathy Goralczyk, Kevin O'Brien (Karine Robert), grandchildren Liam and Mackenzie, and his close companion Louise Patenaude. He will also be missed by his sisters Joan (Ron Couchman) in New Zealand, Madeleine (Jake Lefebvre) in Cornwall, ON, Diana (Tom Conrad) in Halifax, NS and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, great great nephew and cousins.
He was formerly married to Claudette Cadieux, mother of Daniel and Cathy, then Terri O'Brien, mother of Kevin, then the late Florence Bernard, deceased on February 22, 2009.
Ed had successful careers in Retail and Real Estate Management. He was passionate about family and friends, but particularly close to Andy Chelminski, whom he considered a brother. Ed was outgoing, charming and he quietly helped many throughout his life. He was an avid collector and enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling and travelling the world.
Many thanks Louise, Cathy and Daniel, whose caregiving ensured Ed was able to be in his home almost to the end, and to the staff of the West Island Palliative Care Residence where Ed spent his last few days. Ed will be missed by all.
The visitation will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des- Ormeaux, QC, (514) 685-3344, on Thursday, March 1st, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The service will take at Beaconsfield United Church, 202 Woodside Road, Beaconsfield, on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Island Palliative Care Residence, 265 André-Brunet, Kirkland, QC would be greatly appreciated.
