EDWARD GUNDER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 24 to May 25, 2017.
Edward "Fritz" Gunder, 54, died at 5:30pm Thursday, May 18 2017, after a hard fought battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Deborah (Yanik), their handsome 18 year old son Logan, and his mother-in-law Rose Ann (Yanik). Fritz grew up and lived in Palatine his entire life, being raised by his late father Edward and mother Carolynn (Lohff), with his sister Laurie (Houldsworth) and brother Eric. You might have seen him in his calypso green Ford Ranger parked at baseball games, football games, hometown parades, Arlington Park, and afterwards at Lamplighters, his favorite watering hole. Fritzy spent his time raising his one and only son and teaching him the ropes of life. He will be remembered as a phenomenal father, an amazing husband, a great electrician, and most of all, a stubborn German. A memorial service will be held at Saint Thomas of Villanova in Palatine on the evening of Tuesday, May 30 at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family or to "The Fritz Gunder Memorial Fund" at any BMO Harris Bank for Logan's College Education.
