Edward Hydro

Edward Hydro, 79, of Lorraine Street, Hometown, formerly of Coaldale, died Sunday in Coaldale.

He was the husband of Mary Schilling Hydro, to whom he was married 47 years.

Born in Nesquehoning, Edward was a son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Hanusek Hydro.

A 1949 graduate of the former Nesquehoning High School, he attended Perkiomen Preparatory School and Penn State University.

Edward served in the Army during the Korean War.

A plumber by trade, he owned Schilling Plumbing and Heating, Coaldale, until his retirement.

As a young man, Edward was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Nesquehoning, and later became a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Coaldale, until its closing. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a brother, Michael; and sisters, Mary, Elizabeth and Helen.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary, are sons, Edward and his wife, Nichole, Hometown, Thomas and his wife, Joan, Hudson, Mass., and Stephen and his wife, Susan, Holland; a daughter, Maura Streisel and her husband, Mark, Hometown; grandchildren, Natalie and Nicholas Hydro, Marie, Laura, Elizabeth and Thomas Michael Hydro, and Mark, Elissa, Michael, Maria and Christine Streisel; sisters, Julia Kruzek, Nesquehoning, Josephine Citrano and her husband, Anthony, Nesquehoning, and Frances Vitek and her husband, Steve, Richmond, Va.; a brother, Steve Hydro and his wife, Dorothy, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary Byzantine Cemetery, East Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning.
