Edward A. Khoury

Oakland Township - Age 93, passed away peacefully at his farm on Dec. 24, 2018. Born in Wheeling, WV in 1925, Ed grew up in Martin's Ferry, OH, before moving to Detroit in 1941. He was the son of the late Raphael and Asma Khoury and brother to the late Mary and Frances.

Ed attended Notre Dame before serving in WWII, stationed in Pearl Harbor and the Mediterranean, and although he was heavily recruited to attend the Naval Academy, he chose to return to Detroit to be with his family. He finished his undergrad at the University of Michigan before graduating from the University of Detroit Law School in 1951. Ed then began a successful career as one of the top criminal defense attorneys in the Detroit area. Known as a charming orator, Ed made friends everywhere he went. When he was not in the courtroom, he could be found on his farm, where he was a respected breeder of thoroughbred race horses. Ed also loved attending the races at DRC and Hazel Park Racetrack with his "cousin" Richard Frances.

Ed will be reunited in heaven with many friends, including Cousin Sam Khoury, Michael Berry, Charlie Farmer, and most importantly with Esther Kassab, the love of his life. Ed and Esther met when they were young through Ed's friendship with Esther's brothers. Ed became part of the Kassab family and remained so until his death on Christmas Eve. He is also survived by many close friends, including Jim and Barbara Arnold, Joe Sullivan's family, the Michael Hatty family, the George Joseph family, Dick Corey, Ruthie Freuhauf and many godchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held on Jan. 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 3077 Glouchester Dr., Troy, MI 48084.
