Mr. Logan was my second dad when I was growing up. Kayleen and I lived at each others homes. I lost contact with all of them when I graduated from high school.

To Mr. Logan's family: My prayers are with you. Mr. Logan was my principal when I was teaching at Smithfield Junior High many years ago. He was such an incredible principal and an incredible man. He reminded me a great deal of my daddy, and that is the highest compliment I can pay any man. He is sorely missed.

To The Logan Family,
Your Dad was certainly special to all of us who played football or were students in his class; we always knew whether it was on the field or in the classroom that he would be challenging us to do our best. I am not sure that Coach could ever tell Ray and I apart; it was just Thompson 64 and Thompson 72. As a current Birdville employee I got to work as a colleague with Ed, Joe Angell and Lee Hagman; I learned so much from each of them. From Coach I remember him telling me to not take life so serious--after all we were not going to get out alive.
Your Dad truly made a difference in lives of so many; I am so thankful that he chose to make a difference for all of us in Birdville ISD.

Oh! I just heard about Ed a few minutes ago!! I can't express my sorrow. What a wonderful man he was.
Growing up Ed was like a second daddy to me. Ed and I stayed in touch over the years and the world is a little dimmer without those sparkling eyes of his.
I know that Ed, Joe and Leon are telling good ones right now, but the world just isn't the same without Ed in it.
I'll never forget that twinkle in his eyes, that wonderful laugh of his. Though we hadn't talked as often in recent years, my life was bettered by the presence of this wonderful man. Another good one is gone now.
I am so truly sorry for your loss.

Mr Logan was a one-of-a-kind type of gentleman. I will always remember his kind words, his sense of humor and that ever present twinkle in his eye. I will miss him as will many of may RadioShack co-workers. He was really special!
My prayers will be with his family.

My brother (Gene Privett of Mesa, Ariz.)and Ed were good friends and played football together at East Central University. Ed and Sandy always came every year to the ECU Alumni Homecoming and we became good friends with them. They were here one month ago at our house and we enjoyed so much fellowship together this year and in the years past. Ed was a great person to know and we will surely miss him on his yearly visits to our house. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I am so sorry to hear about Coach Logan's passing. He was my history teacher at HHS and years later a sweet friend.
He made such an impression on everyone that came into contact with him. He was a remarkable person and a true gentleman. He always had that sparkle in his eyes, which was just a manifestation of his kindness, warmth and humor. We have lost one of the good guys!
God bless you, Coach, and rest in peace.

Good Bye to a Special Mentor.
In reflecting about Coach Logan today, I'm sure that I haven't come awake often enough about how profoundly some people were onstage in my life for relatively brief periods, but made disproportionately huge contributions for my better. Ed Logan was one of those people that watched over me, and I regret not being able to have a frequent post High School relationship with him.
I vividly remember our first encounter. At the time I recognized his name and position, but did not know the strength of his spirit. It was a in a crowd that I was entering the auditorium one day for a function that required the assembly of the student body. Unexpectedly, he physically took my arm, pulled me from the rush of students, and pressed me to the wall. In a friendly and challenging manner he said that he needed a “Force” to play football on his team, and directed me to show up at practice that same afternoon. I did show up, and that event kick started me onto a path that changed and enriched my young life. It may be too nostalgic for me to elaborate here, but I will always be grateful to Ed Logan, owe him a debt of gratitude, and cherish his method of guiding me; something that I needed at the time. He knew it, and had the talent to show by example how to be confident to accomplish things bigger and better.
I am proud to have been one of his students, and on his team of football and life. Also, proud for him to have contributed three unselfish decades to the Birdville school system. Certainly he helped numerous others. He was a quality man, an honorable man, and I'll bet that many people like me will wake up days in the future and realize they miss him and the power of his winning influence.

Carolyn, Eddie & Kayleen, Well, Mr Angell & Mr Logan are back together again! They were a pair, to say the least but two finer men you would be hard pressed to find! My thoughts and prayers are with you all, I know you will miss him. Your dad was always so kind to me and I am blessed that he touched my life both as a kid in elementary and as a teen in high school.

Don't know if God has ever created such a marvelous man! He was my pricipal at Smithfield Jr. and was such a loving kind soul who always mind time for you. Condolences to the family. Rest easy in the fact that when he entered heaven he heard Jesus say "well done my good and faithful servant."

I briefly exchanged pleasantries with Mr. Logan and saw him often in the RadioShack/TCC campus in downtown Fort Worth. He seemed a pleasant man with stately comportment and I always privately envisioned him in command on the deck of sailing vessel—he looked the part with his white beard and trim figure.
Having lost my own father just over a month ago makes the passing of Mr. Logan all that more poignant as the men of their great generation are being claimed by the pages of history.
Such men are a rarity today and I offer my condolences to the family.

I've met Mr. Logan only one time, just a few weeks ago. Through my good friend Ken Bluberg, Mr. Logan's neighbor. Ken asked me if I would take the chainsaw to his giant trees in his front yard. I'm so happy and releived I was able to help Mr. Logan and I'm very sad to see him go. It was a pleasure to meet such a nice man. My heart goes out to Mr. Logan's family. God bless.

Playing for Coach when he first came to Haltom H.S. was not only a privilege, but a lesson from a great teacher about how to live our lives after we walked off the field for the last time. His sense of humor stays with me today (I still quote him every time I play pass with my grandson and he drops the ball: “Hey! If it was a brick, it would have killed you!”). He always cared for his players and students, did the right thing, and went the extra mile. He’s touched the lives of thousands. His family is blessed and fortunate to have had him for so many years. Coach Logan, it was an honor.

Mr. Logan was the greatest principal I ever had the privledge and honor to work for. I loved him so much, I named my son after him - Logan Butler. I can still remember so many pearls of wisdom gained under him. One of my favorite memories of him was when I had a HORRIBLE reaction to poison ivy and he brought me some Army issued anti-poison ivy serum that I was supposed to take orally. I have laughed many times over his fabulous sense of humor and been thankful that I saw a man that cared so much for the students he was in charge of. He will be GREATLY missed. Rest in peace Mr. Logan.
