Ed Macmann was one of the nicest men I knew in Los Alamos. He always had a big smile and a friendly greeting. I met him in 1968 when I joined LASL, where we both worked at the Omega Canyon site. In my second week in Los Alamos, I asked Ed where my family should have lunch on our first weekend visit to Santa Fe. He gave me one of the best suggestions ever when he told me that we must eat at The Shed. We have followed this good advice ever since. At Los Alamos Big Band concerts, Ed was clearly enjoying playing his trumpet. Knowing Ed was a real pleasure. He made other people feel good.
