Edward Morse Obituary
He was born in Bennington, March 26, 1942, the son of Edward J. and Ruth (Pierson) Morse.
He was a 1961 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School.
Mr. Morse served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965.
He married Annette Carey Aug. 28, 1965, in Bennington.
He was employed at Warren Wire Co. in earlier years. He later worked for Metropolitan Insurance Co. and retired from Prudential Insurance Co.
Mr. Morse was an avid golfer, member of Mount Anthony Country Club, Senior Club Champion and had seven holes-in-one. In earlier years, he was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks and its softball team. He also enjoyed hunting, playing pool, darts and pitch.
Survivors include his wife of Bennington; three children, Donna McAuliffe of Plymouth, N.H., Laura Hoag of Pownal and Dan Morse of Bennington; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons; four siblings, Joseph of Pownal, Michael of Bennington, Diane Newton of Maine and Mary DeLong of Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Morse.
The funeral will begin with a prayer at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and burial with military honors in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or Mount Anthony Golf Team, in care of Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Jack was a good man who fought this terrible disease as valiantly as anybody. Know that he is in a better place, free of the pain and finally swinging that golf club as smooth as a Pro again. Im very happy to have known Jack, and even happier that my boys are privileged enough to call him their Poppy. He will always be with you, that I truly believe. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Annette and Family, needless to say you are in our thoughts and prayers. I knew Jack from the days when we were kids on County Street and Ben Mont Avenue and we grew up and older over the years in Bennington. He was a great guy and a great friend to all the Perrott family. You have our sincere sympathy at this time. Aunt Anette, I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Jack.Whenever I think of him i cant help but laugh. Sorry to hear about ol' Jack's passing. We joined the Marines together in June of '61 and had a great time on the 21 hour train ride to Parris Island. Over the years I only saw Jack when I visited Bennington. We always talked about that famous train ride. Rest in peace my friend... Semper Fidelis.
