LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015, at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette, for Ray Rene Rabalais, 82, who passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Lafayette.

Entombment will be held in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott.

Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Mr. Rabalais, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Rene Ray Rabalais of Marksville, LA and the former Agnes Conques of Carencro, LA. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Lafayette, LA. He served in the National Guard until 1953, then entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1960. He received the following medals during his military service: National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Observer Wings and Good Conduct Medal. After his military service, he worked for various insurance companies for 35 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and working in his yard.

Mr. Rabalais is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Solari Rabalais; one son, Kynan Rabalais and his wife Stacey; two grandsons, Peyton and Bailey Rabalais; and one sister, Ruth Pierret.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Rabalais; and two sisters, Dolores Larriviere and Dorothy Sonnier.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of his doctors and the entire staff of Lafayette General and LTAC-extended hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA (www.HospiceAcadiana.com) or to a charity of your choice.
