Edward Joseph Richard, Jr.

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved brother, Edward Joseph Richard, Jr. of Tacoma, WA. He left us unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the age of 57. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.

Edward, affectionately known as "Joe", was born to Edward Sr. and Phyllis Richard on December 28, 1967, in Exeter, NH. He lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an infectious sense of humor that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Joe grew up in Portsmouth, NH and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1986. He went on to pursue his passion for carpentry - a craft that became both his livelihood and his calling. In 2009, he relocated to Tacoma, WA, to further his career and joined the Local 360 Union. His dedication to his work was evident in every project he touched, and his craftsmanship reflected the care and pride he took in his trade.

Beyond his professional life, Joe was a man of many passions. He found joy behind a drum set and had a deep love for music. Some of his favorite bands included, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, KISS, Metallica, and Motley Crue - artists whose energy matched Joe's own vibrant spirit. Whether tapping out rhythms or sharing songs with friends and family, music was a constant source of happiness for him.

Joe's warmth extended far beyond his talents. He was known for his huge heart and gentle soul. His generosity knew no bounds, and his ability to make others laugh with his quick wit and radiant smile brought comfort and joy to those around him. He had a rare gift for lifting spirits and making people feel seen and valued.

Joe is survived and missed by his son Joseph A. Richard, twin brother Jeff Richard and his wife Traci, sisters; Cindy Eldredge and her husband Gary, Roxanne Richard, Brenda Jones and her late husband Al, Candice Egan and her husband Mark, Angelique Richard, Erica Rock and her husband Jubran, Caren Pratt and her husband Dean, and longtime girlfriend, Julie DuBose. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews; Curt, Mellisa, Jennifer, Mariah, Aimee, Allison, Brandy, Joey, Danny, Shane, Jordan, Jake, Jason, and Riley. Along with many great-nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Edward J. Richard, Sr. and Phyllis R. Richard. He also mourned the loss of his beloved Labrador, Brady.

A Celebration of Life to honor Joe will be held on April 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Shooters Pub located at 6 Columbus Ave. in Exeter, NH.

Joe's memory will live on through the laughter he inspired and the love he gave so freely. May those who knew him find comfort and remembering the joy he brought into their lives.
