Shirlene Bunch

BUNCH Shirlene Russell, 77, passed away Sunday after a long courageous battle with Scleroderma. Mrs. Bunch was born in Landville, WV, daughter of Leonard and Beedy Sparks Russell, and moved to Carter Co. After her father passed from a coal mining accident at age 22, she was reared in the Methodist Home Orphanage. She married her high school sweetheart, Garnett Milton Bunch, and settled in Lexington. She was a member of Gardenside Baptist Church and active in the greater Lexington Swim Association. Mrs. Bunch was a bookkeeper until she retired to be a housewife in 1967. A sister, Faye Elizabeth Coomes, brothers-in-law, Granville Bunch and James Coomes preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Julie (John) Harkins of Nicholasville; her son, Gary Milton Bunch of Bradenton FL; five grandchildren, Paige Harkins, Chris Harkins, Logan (Hannah) Bunch, John (Maggie) Bunch, Eric (Allie) Bunch; nephews, James Coomes, Jr., Stephen Coomes, Granville Mark Bunch, David Bunch; nieces, Mary Mccoy, Judy Golden; and a sister-in-law, Garnetta Bunch. She celebrated special lifelong friendships with Shirley Samartin, June Wick-man, and Louise Williamson.
