My daddy was a giving, humble, and a "man of few words". He was my everything-my strength, my hope, and my faith. He was there when I needed him-never questioning, he was my support system. I will miss his unique laugh, his whistling, singing, and his smile-his laugh alone could light up a room. He always taught me the "What If's" in life-to live your dream, go after your goals in life, never giving up, and to always perservere. He always reminded me to mind your own business and do your work. Daddy never knew the word quit-he always went beyond his limits and gave so much to everyone he knew.
He was a man with good work ethics, and a man who loved his family.
The last day I spent with him, I held his hand, brushed his cheek and told him I love you very much. As I took in his last breath, with his loving eyes gazing at everyone, I will cherish that memory forever-it was then I knew my Daddy was at peace. I miss him so so so much. Not a day goes by hoping I will see him, he's calling my name, or he's watching sports. Every night if I'm driving or at home, I look up and there's the moon thinking, "there's Daddy looking down on us". Lately, there's been a lot of full-moons-ever so bright, thinking that's Daddy with his flashlight, letting us know he's okay.
Every week I make it a point to visit Daddy-talking stories, changing his flowers, making sure he's alright.
I miss you and LOVE YOU Daddy. I'll write again.
Your Amu,
Lynda

Edward Mahina Sniffen, Jr. was my Lone Ranger and I was his Tonto from the time, he ordered a "Timber Float" in September 1960 at the Bowling City Fountain where I just started work. Everyone knew his trademark and it was so great that his fellow co-workers at the Bus honored him with their toothpicks too as they waved Aloha that last trip he took around his beloved OTS. He will forever be our hero, always there for me and the children- The wind beneath our wings. It seems so unfair that he did not enjoy at least one day in retirement- so close but really thinking back, he never really wanted to stop- always putting off filing those all important papers. He provided for us up to the end and one day his lost and lonely Tonto will find him again and we will ride into the sunset- Hi Ho Silver away. I know he is enjoying his time up there with his mom and dad, my mom and two dads, his friends-Bobby, Ernest, George, Rawsel, Marilyn and all the others. Have fun my love, enjoy the paradise- until then, Eddie my love, my best half.

It has been a great blessing to have you in my life.
The funeral services was so beautiful; thank you Aunty Geri, Keola, Lynda, & Ed-Lyn. May we sing no sad songs for him, may our hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived. I'll miss seeing you Uncle Mahina at ALL the OHANA parties at Uncle Hertwell & Aunty Lei's house.

To my Uncle Mahina,
What a joy it has been to have you in my life. You were always kind to me and my family.
You have been an example to me as a young boy growing up in the projects to strive and make something of my life. I enjoy the memories of you stopping by for some kaukau and lua breaks with the bus stop in front of our house in Kalihi and the many bus rides we shared just to go for a ride and "talk story". May Gods journey be Heavenly for you and know that those of us that are left here on this Earth will someday reunite with you and the many others that are there with you. LOVE & ALOHA,
Russell Espinoza.
P.S. Give my love to my Daddy :-)

Mahina, was my older brother, he, no doubt knew his limitations, an individual in my, eyes, who ALWAYS stepped back, so that he could get a bigger view of life. You, could count on him to be there for you. Always caring for others as a true friend does. His family was his focused, caring and providing for Geri, Keokanui, Lynda, Ed-Lyn. Never letting the opportunity to pass him,to help any one in need. Remembering my earlier "growing up" days, with Mahina, brings back warm and lasting memories. I know he is on a "new journey", with our mom and dad. I can only imagine, what a glorious reunion that was! Mahina, will be in my heart for ever and the legacy he leaves, will forever be ours to keep! Thank you, brother! Until we, meet again! MUCH LOVE AND ALOHA, PUA!!!
