Edward SPARROW Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 19, 2002.
SPARROW _ Edward James Edward passed away in the fall afternoon of October 17, 2002. He was in his home with his loving family and was quickly overtaken by cancer at the age of 61. He is survived by a family that will always cherish him, his wife Patricia; his daughters, Laura and Amber; his son John; and his granddaughter Ashley. His courage and character were immense, his word was always true, he was the strongest man we have ever known. Like his father, he was a traveler. Born in Calgary, January 26, 1941, he traveled roads far and wide and touched the lives of many with a presence so that all who met him will never be able to forget him. There are many sayings that will always be attached to our memories of him. One of these that was a favorite motivator was: "On the plains of hesitation dwell the bones of countless thousands, who at the dawn of victory sat down to wait, and waiting, died." He loved being in the country or by the river, preferably with a sporting purpose in mind. His appreciation of nature will live forever in his work as "The Treeman", planting and nurturing landscaping throughout Southern Alberta. His many friends and family will always miss Ed and remember him as a man like no other. Ed's directions were that there was to be no Service and that a Memorial Celebration of his life was to be organized. This gathering is open to all friends and family and will be held this coming Wednesday, October 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Southern Alberta Pioneers Foundation, 3625 - 4 Street S.W., Calgary. 325948
