Edward Statzer

CASTLEWOOD – Edward Michael Statzer, age 49, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at his home following a long illness.
Born Sept. 24, 1956, a son of the late Samuel Otto Statzer and the late Joann Chafin Statzer.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Wanda White Statzer; one daughter, Laura Statzer Ball and husband Delmar, Castlewood; four sisters, Darcella Campbell, Bristol Virginia, Jorita Horne and husband Lloyd, Teressa Hicks and husband Robert and Cathy Short and husband Jeff, all of Castlewood; four brothers, Sam Statzer and wife Faye, Roger Statzer and wife Nancy, Gary Statzer and wife Joan, all of Lebanon, and Rick Statzer and wife Lisa, Abingdon; two grandchildren, Danielle Ball and Joshua Ball; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Harless and the Rev. Phillip Statzer officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, in the Carty Family Cemetery near the home. Those attending are requested to meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Hicks, Kevin Hicks, Jacob Short, Greg Horne, Tony Statzer, Tim Statzer, Randy Helton, Ford White and Nathan Ball. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Statzer, Jeff Statzer, Gene Statzer, Donnie Statzer, Darrell Duty, Tommy Duty and Dalt Nunley.
The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, Route 2, Box 78-K, Castlewood, VA 24224, for burial expense.
