Edward Stonis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2023.
Edward G. Stonis, 82, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly from Canton and Norwood, MA passed away suddenly on December 8, 2023. Beloved husband of 57 years to Ellen (Flood) Stonis. Loving father of Edward and his wife Lynn of Foxborough, MA, the late Brian and his wife Concetta of Winter Springs, FL, Andrea and her husband Peter (Galvin) of Easton, MA, and Catherine and her husband Patrick (Kelly) of West Roxbury, MA. He was a very proud Papa to Garrett, Emerson, Trevor, Tenley, Thomas, Tyler, Julia, Patrick, Edward, MaryEllen, Antonino and Brian. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ed was born and raised in Norwood, MA and was a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1959. He went on to serve in the Unites States Air Force and following his military service, he moved back home, married, and began a career as a Norwood Firefighter and EMT until his retirement in 1981. He then became a realtor and active member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. In 1997, he relocated to Punta Gorda, FL and continued working in real estate for several years.

Ed enjoyed playing golf, watching golf tournaments and football, fishing with "Cuz," and particularly loved his summer trips up to Dennis port, MA to see his family. A great cook, Ed was always up for hosting an elaborate clam bake, pig roast or taco party for family and friends. He was a handy person who took pleasure in helping his children with any project needed around the house, no matter how big or small. He was a Life Member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, member of the Punta Gorda Lodge 2606, American Legion Post 110 and Moose Lodge 2121.

Mass and Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery in Winter Park, FL on January 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM.

My Father in law, Ed was a kind and humble man. Someone who loved to laugh and put a smile on your face. He had a warm and welcoming heart. He loved planning parties and cooking for the family. He was so much fun and will be missed by us all.

Ed is my Father and he was such a wonderful Dad who always made me feel special. He listened to me and helped advise me in the right direction my entire life. He was a such a fun loving Dad too, always ready for an adventure. I will cherish all our memories together. I love him and will miss him.

Ed always had a good story and was so open to helping others. The world is less rich without him. Ellen, we are sorry not to be there for the funeral, but look forward to welcoming you back to Laurier. You all are in our prayers. Paul and Deanna Wilson, 376 Laurier.
