Edward Zephir Sr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 18, 2025.
Edward W. Zephir, of Leominster and Wellfleet, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 in Leominster.

Born on December 2, 1933, in Catonsville, Baltimore County, Maryland, Ed was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Donnelly) Zephir. He lived in Maryland until he met his wife and lifelong love, Jeanne Tourigny. They settled in Leominster, where they created a life together.

Ed built a 40-year career with AT&T, beginning as a lineman in Maryland and rising to be an engineer and manager overseeing capital projects throughout Massachusetts. He completed his engineering education at Worcester Junior College and Clark University.

Ed was self-sufficient, reserved, and remarkably capable-whether as a mechanic, handyman, ski patrol, traveler, or project planner. He also proudly supported his wife's art career, maintaining a framing workshop beside her in-home studio.

Throughout their lives, Ed and Jeanne shared a great love of travel and adventured to many parts of the world. In retirement, they built a beautiful home in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, where he loved swimming, oystering, spending time with friends, and walking the bays and beaches with Jeanne.

In his words, "I accomplished and lived the American Dream."

Edward was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Jeanne (Tourigny) Zephir, as well as his brother Charles D. Zephir, sister Rosemary Granato, and brother Andrew F. Zephir.

He leaves behind his children: Edward W. Zephir Jr. and his wife Susan Chalifoux Zephir of Leominster; David E. Zephir and his wife Marianne Chalifoux Zephir of Westminster; Laurie J. Zephir-Roy and her husband Robert Roy of Leominster; and Susan M. Zephir and her husband George Haddad of Redondo Beach, CA. He also leaves behind grandchildren Kathleen, Elizabeth, Patrick, Kevin, Coco, Julia, Claire, and Owen; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Eneida, a caring aide and friend who helped Ed with errands and appointments.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the WoundedWarriorProject.org or Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
