In memory of Dr. Ed, who used his power of spirit in creating health, prosperity and happiness for everyone who came across his path! Throughout his lifetime, he truly sang songs that no one had sung and stood high on his noble path of pursuits. May your divine spirit be blessed and live forever!

Ed was a wonderful, generous friend of the National Catholic AIDS Network who provided valuable assistance in the production of the National Catholic AIDS Ministry Directory. This comprehensive resource supported networking within and among the dioceses in the US. He was also a friend and counselor to me as the NCAN Executive Director. May he Rest In Peace.

I have known Ed since 1996 when I worked at CHA in St. Louis as an intern. Our philosophies clicked. He also attended my wedding in India in November 1999. He was more of a family than a close friend. I continue to miss him, but I know that he is looking over all of us as we move ahead with our lives.

I never met Ed, but many teleconferences with STS. As I was new to STS, Ed was extremely helpful. I know we had a connection after realizing we both had come from Texas. Ed was very knowledgeable and yet down to earth. My heart felt condolences to Maribeth and Eddie.

I only knew Ed for a short period of time, however you can sense when you are around someone who is great. Ed radiated greatness. He was a kind, and always went out of his way to say hello. He is mised.

Ed was indeed a special man. I learned much from him, not only from his vision and experience, but by the way he carried himself and interacted with others. His enthusiasm was inspirational and I will always hold him in the highest regard. I am privileged to think of him as my friend. My sincerest sympathy to Maribeth and Eddie for this loss. He will be missed.

I met Dr. Fonner in Topeka and knew him for over 14 years. He was a fine gentleman, very intelligent, who wrote Governor Graves' Public Health Improvement Plan for the state of KS. He also loved to run road races and participate in triathlons. I am so sorry that he had to leave us so soon. Alice Purdy, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.

50 years is a long time to know someone, but still not long enough. I was hoping for another 10 or 20. A piece of me is gone with Ed, to accompany him on that next journey, I hope.
We were probably seated together alphabetically in high school, both aliens, but I could hide behind the tall guy and be outside the spotlight of the sports star. Unlikely friends. Who else will know those times with me? And with that knowing, understand the scope of time itself?
Well, as he did say, we must go on.
All my best to Maribeth & Eddie. Grief is a work that must be done. I wish for you strength to carry on and to connect with the thread of joy within the grieving.

It was about 13.5 years ago when I got to know Ed when I got an internship and KDHE, and met his wonderful Family- Maribeth and Eddie (who was just about 12 at that time). I keep the best memories of the working together with Ed, and I feel very pity, we miss him on this planet now. Let him sleep in piece and I pray for his memory and for the health and all the best for you both, Maribeth and Eddie.
My and my Family condolences. Sincerely,

I was so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. It took very little time for me to know that he was indeed an honorable man. One of his skills which caught my attention was his ability and delight to consider the possiblilities. And that is the very thing needed to move forward in this world. There are no words that help during this time but I am thinking of you both Maribeth and C Eddie

Wow, what a list of accomplishments, you can be proud Eddie and Maribeth. When working with Ed he made us all feel as we were the only group he was working with. His great smile and sense if humor lit up the room and kept the mood light. Ed, you were a great American; you devoted your life to helping people.
