Edwin LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE, Edwin W. Sr. 84, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on September 12, 2021. Born August 1, 1937, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Alice Pasqual Crabb Lawrence and Elmer W. Lawrence. Ed started his professional career as a pitcher for the Milwaukee Braves Baseball Organization. He later served as the athletic director for Cheyney University and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and was the executive director for Major League Baseball's Umpire Development Program. He retired as a Development administrator from St. Petersburg College. Ed was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Elzey for 61 years and is also survived by daughters, Roslyn R. Lawrence, Tracey L. Smith (Jeff), Lisa L. Brody (Carl); son, Edwin W. Lawrence Jr. "Chip" (LaTanya); sister, Barbara Bowles (Nathaniel); brother, Kenneth Lawrence Sr. (Charlotte); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
