EDWIN H. ROBINSON
July 5, 1951 - May 28, 2017
Edwin (Ed) H. Robinson passed away in his sleep Sunday, May 28, 2017, at age 65 during a trip to Bend, OR. He was born to Lyle and Bernice (Hartzell) Robinson on July 5, 1951 in Spokane, WA. His father, a military chaplain, began Ed's adventures by moving the family to Kennewick, WA; Nampa, ID; Fort Lewis, WA; Tacoma, WA, Bamberg, Germany; and El Paso, TX. Ed played football for and graduated from high school in El Paso in 1968; he graduated in 1973 from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho; Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1976 and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1987 with a PHD in Religious Studies.
Ed was engaged in pastoral leadership, theological education and Christian higher education for 43 years, beginning as a youth pastor in San Diego and Long Beach, CA and later as professor and dean of the faculty at NTS, in Kansas City, Missouri; president of MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, KS; and most recently as Professor of Practical Theology, Director of Leadership Studies and Servant Leadership and Vice President for Academic Affairs at NNU, Nampa, ID.
Ed and Nancy moved to Nampa in 2011 from Overland Park, KS, where they lived for 25 years. Ed was an avid baseball fan, loyal to the KC Royals; loved to watch collegiate sports of all kinds; enjoyed hiking, skiing and spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his college sweetheart, Nancy (Ratzloff), with whom he married in 1973, following graduation from NNU; his two adult daughters, Kimberly Lovitt, (John), and grandsons Seth and Colin, Spring Hill, Kansas and daughter, Kelly Robinson, Shawnee, KS; his sister Lois Zachary (Lane) and his brother Chuck Robinson (Judy), both of Bend, Oregon. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and his parents Lyle and Bernice Robinson.
Ed was known as a servant leader, mentor and friend to many. He loved serving the Lord, his church and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the university fund of Northwest Nazarene University, 623 S University Blvd, Nampa, ID 83686; MidAmerica Nazarene University, 2030 E College Way, Olathe, KS 66062 or Nazarene Theological Seminary, 1700 E Meyer Blvd, Kansas City, MO, to the Lyle and Bernice Robinson scholarship fund.
Memorial Services will be held in both Nampa, ID at College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey Ave. on Saturday, June 10 at 10:30 AM and in Olathe, Kansas at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan on Sunday, July 9 at 3 PM.

I am so saddened to hear of Ed's passing. My love and prayers go out to all of you. No doubt Ed touched many, many souls during his life - what an amazing blessing he was and will continue to be. I remember he always challenged us with the hard questions of introspection and followed quickly behind with a friendly wit. So thankful to have known him. Much love to you all.

We met Ed and Nancy some time ago at Shawnee Nazarene church, and were saddened to hear of his passing.

Ed had a delightful sense of humor, enjoyed spontaneous bantor, loved talking sports, and most of all talked freely about his walk with Jesus. He definitely was a mentor to many he met.

I am a much better person having met Ed,
Blessings to the Robinson family,
Bud/Janet Harlow

I am fortunate to have known Ed as a seminary student at NTS, and more recently, as a university colleague at NNU. I'm grateful for his modeling and his countless thoughtful (and thought-full) reflections that I will carry forward with me. Nancy and her family are in my prayers. Lurching forward.

I am sorry to read the passing of my encourager and motivator, Dr. Ed Robinson.
I am eternally blessed for having the opportunity to take classes with him during my educational journey at NTS.
He always an encourager to me then and on many other occasions when we have opportunities to meet at conferences and General Assembly.

I woke up this morning to the sad, sad news that my childhood friend, Eddie, had passed away. How I loved Eddie. How much I cherish our times together running as fast as we could through the halls of Tacoma Nazarene Church. I never could catch up to him. Today, he runs in the Presence of God. I have a lot of ground to make up. Run, Eddie, run. I am coming soon.
