Eileen Bailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 18 to Jun. 20, 2018.
Eileen Bailey
PEORIA - Eileen Bailey, 91, of Peoria was called home to the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Born August 7, 1926, in Peoria to Harry and Anna Castle Marks, she married Frank Bailey on August 17, 1946, in Peoria. He died on January 21, 1988, in Peoria.
One son, Dan; one grandson, Dylan; one sister, Lucille Brown; and her son-in-law, Robert Goodwin, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Goodwin of St. Louis, MO; her son, David (Nichole) Bailey of Morton; eight grandchildren, Rob (Carmen) Goodwin, Sean (Julie) Goodwin, Bridgette (Matt) Barnhart, Kevin Goodwin, Colin Goodwin, Greg (Lisa) Bailey, Steve (Joanne) Bailey and Alycia Bailey; and nine great-grandchildren.
Eileen spent much of her early years practicing acrobatic dance. She became quite accomplished and performed at various community events. At her high school, the Academy of Our Lady, she was the only student in the whole school who did acrobatic dancing, so she was called on frequently to perform on the Academy's stage. Her ultimate dancing experience was when she entered a local contest and took first place.
She worked for several years for her father at Peoria's Hunt Tire Company. After marrying, she was a full-time homemaker and was an excellent seamstress. She served as a room mother many times and volunteered with both the Girl and Boy scouts while her children were in school. She was a member of Holy Family Church.
Eileen enjoyed traveling with her family, and in later years went on numerous vacations with her sister, Lucile. She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games. Her favorite hobby was compiling a large and detailed collection of family photo albums. The photos spanned many generations, where she relived and shared her greatest memories with others.
Eileen will be remembered as a fun and loving mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family would like to thank the staff at Proctor Place for all the help they provided over the years.
A funeral mass will be on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Saturday. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude or Holy Family Catholic Church.
Friends and family may sign the online guestbook or send private condolences to www.wrightandsalmon.com.

You were a wonderful friend, mother-in-law, and grandmother. What a joyous reunion you will have with Frank, Dan, Lucille, your parents, Dylan and so many others. You will be remembered for a long time as a very fun, kind and loving person. What a wonderful testament to a life well lived. Godspeed Eileen.

Andy and I send our condolences. I got to know Eileen while subbing for the ladies' Pinochle group, and I so enjoyed the stories Eileen and her friends would tell about their younger years. She was always so good-natured whenever I'd see her, and I pray for her eternal rest.
