EILEEN EGAN Obituary
Sister Eileen Egan, S.S.D., passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. She served as a teacher at the Academy of St. Dorothy and a teacher and principal at St. Patrick School both located on Staten Island for a number of years.
Sister Eileen was born in New York City on Dec. 26, 1940, to Patrick and Kathleen (Gibbons) Egan. Eileen was one of five daughters, Bernadette, Brenda, Mary Etna, and Una, all of whom have predeceased her along with a brother, Desmond. She is survived by two brothers, Patrick and Kevin Egan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she held in great fondness.
Sister Eileen entered the Sisters of Saint Dorothy on Sept. 8, 1959, and made her final profession on July 4, 1969. Added to her roles of teacher and principal, Sister was also Provincial Coordinator of the community. Possessing a strong charisma, Sister Eileen had many friends with whom she thoroughly enjoyed visiting. With a great love for her God, her community, family, and friends, Eileen also had a tremendous passion for life as well as a joy which she exuded no matter what was going on in her life.
Visitation will take place at Hanley Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick Church, Richmondtown, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Sr. Eileen was one of the finest women I have ever known. Quite and unassuming, she led by example. I'm so grateful she was with us at OLF during my time there. She was definitely a beacon of light to all that knew her. Rest now, sweet lady. May God bring peace into the souls of All who grieve you at this time.
