Pettit, Elaine B. ALBANY Elaine B. O'Brien Pettit, 49, of Albany, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Peter's Hospital. Elaine was born in Albany and lived there all her life. She was a 1984 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. She was employed for a time by the Travel Land travel agency, and more recently by Wellpoint in Albany. Family was important to Elaine. She loved vacationing with them in Cape Cod, Mass., at her favorite spot, Smith Heights. She enjoyed the warm weather, beach and watching sunsets. Elaine looked forward to Saturdays at the Saratoga Race Course each August with her husband Derek and friends. Above all, Elaine loved spending time with her beautiful daughter Julia. A girls day out getting their nails done and having lunch together brought her so much joy. Elaine will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Elaine is survived by her husband, Derek S. Pettit; her daughter, Julia Grace Pettit; her parents, Edward G. and Mary C. Davis O'Brien of North Albany; her brother, Timothy O'Brien (Lisa) of Colonie; her sisters, Karen O'Brien Driscoll (Jay) of Albany and Christine O'Brien Inger of Delmar and by her nieces and nephews, Conor, Margaret and Jack Driscoll, and Kathleen Inger. Elaine's family would like to express sincere appreciation to the caring CV ICU staff at St. Peter's Hospital for the compassion shown to Elaine and her family during her stay. Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday, April 21, at 10 a.m., and from there to the Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Avenue, Albany at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
