Eleanor Bakaitis Obituary

Eleanor Marie Bakaitis, 85, of Charleroi, died on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born in Monessen on July 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Leo and Susan Demko Reday. She was a retired cook with Santoni's restaurant of Charleroi. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church. Eleanor's passion was to cook and bake for family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Bakaitis Sr.; one grandson, Joseph Christinis; and a brother, George Reday. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laureen and Thomas Gliebe, and Marie and Larry Christinis Sr., both of Speers Hill; one son, Lawrence W. Bakaitis Jr., of New York; four grandchildren, Susan and her husband, Jeremy Petruska, of Monessen, Larry Christinis Jr., of Charleroi, Isaac and Cateri Christinis, of Speers Hill; two great-grandchildren, Mya and Ava Petruska; one sister-in-law, Betty Reday, of San Jose, Calif.; and two nephews, Joel and Patrick Reday. Friends will be received on Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the LEONARD PAVLIC FUNERAL HOME, Third Street and Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
