She is predeceased in death by her parents Clinton and Amy Brown Rash, husband Max Swilling, brothers Buford Rash, Herbert Rash, Arnold Rash, and sister Edith Greene. She is survived by her daughters Beth Pitts (Loganville, GA), Leslie Jenkins (Dacula, GA), Grandchildren Wayne (Chop) Jenkins (Kim) of Gainesville, GA, Amber Pitts Puckett (Jonathan) of Savannah, GA, Justin Pitts (Katie) of Covington, GA, Lance Jenkins of Auburn, GA , Zach Pitts (fianc? Grace Wellborn) of Lawrenceville, GA, Emily Jenkins of Winder, GA, Great Grandchildren Gabbie Jenkins, Braxtyn Payne, Maddyx Payne, Emerson Puckett, Axyl Pitts, Ace Pitts, and Ellis Puckett, Sisters Thelma Vaughn of Asheville, NC, Dorothy Evans (H.B.) of Santa Rosa, CA, Sister in Law Louise Rash of Travelers Rest, SC , Sister in Law Marian Swilling Piercy of Asheville, NC, Brother in Law Harry Swilling of Asheville, NC, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Born on July 31, 1939, Eleanor, also known to her friends and family as "Ellie", grew up on a farm in the western North Carolina mountains in the the small community of Alexander, NC, where she learned the value of hard work in the tobacco field. The day after her high school graduation in 1957, she headed to Detroit MI, and began a career in banking. She returned to Asheville, NC 3 years later and was hired by The Bank of Asheville, where she met her husband of 48 years Max Swilling. After marrying in 1964, she became a mother and homemaker living in Asheville NC, Avondale Estates, GA, Tallahassee, FL, and spent her last 40 years in the Metro Atlanta area. She was an excellent cook, and is remembered for her made from scratch meals and desserts, especially her coconut and chocolate cream pies. In 1987 she was officially diagnosed with Multiple Sclerorsis, and her health began to decline. Her husband Max retired early from the U.S. Forest Service in order to be her care giver for the next 20 years until his death. Max did an excellent job caring for her, as Ellie instructed him on how to cook, clean, and launder. Ellie was a Prayer Warrior, and loved the Lord. Over the years, she and Max were members of Avondale Alliance, Thomasville Road Baptist Church, White Oak Hills Baptist, and Mt. Zion Baptist. When health allowed, they were active and faithful servants. After Max's death in 2013, Ellie's daughters Beth and Leslie cared for her until she became bedridden. The last 6 1/2 years of her life were spent at Lifecare of Lawrenceville. She loved to watch the birds, read Amish books, as well as her daily devotions. With only the use of her left arm, she learned how to use her IPad to solve Jumble puzzles. She also learned how to call and text on her IPhone with the help of Siri. Her daughters came daily, and were blessed with the staff at the nursing facility. Their wonderful care gave her family peace of mind and more time with her. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, cheered and helped take care of Ellie. She always said that God would take care of her, and He did. Per her request, there will be no service. Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church is the church that built her. In lieu of flowers, donations made be to Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church 474 Cedar Hill Rd. Alexander, NC 28701.

I always loved visiting Max and Eleanor. They were always such an encouragement and even after Mr Max passed away and I would visit her in the nursing home she would ask how different folks were doing at the church because she had seen their name in the prayer list. She was definitely a prayer warrior. Such a wonderful, sweet lady.

Missy and I were very saddened to hear of Ellie´s passing. We met Ellie and Max through our daughter and her eventual husband, Kim and Wayne Jenkins. Max and Ellie were very nice in accepting all of us into their inner circle. We enjoyed so much of our short time with both of them and their excellent cooking. I am sure Max is glad to finally have her with him once again. Rusty and Missy Smith
