She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo



WOODSTOCK - Eleanor B. Zickuhr, 93, of Marengo, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock.

She was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Union, to Albert and Martha (Haacker) Kolberg. She married Otto C. Zickuhr on Nov. 30, 1935, in Marengo. Together they were dairy farmers for more than 31 years.

In her early years, she worked at McGills, and she later returned and continued working until her retirement in the early 1980s.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Ronald) Kier of Des Plaines and Donald (Melody) Zickuhr of Hanover Park; her grandchildren, Brian (Linda) Kier, David (Gloria) Kier, Gary (Sandy) Zickuhr, Kerry Zickuhr and Jerome (Gina) Edge; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 70 years, Otto; her brothers, Clarence Kolberg, Eddie Kolberg and Alfred Guse; and her sisters, Elsie Repka and Clara Stieg.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, until the service at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St., Marengo. The Rev. Glen Borhart will officiate. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church.
