She received her Bachelors in Nursing in 1976, and went on to get her MSN in Psychiatric Nursing in 1981. I received the most beautiful gift today and being, Dios De Los Muertos, I know it came from beyond from you and Jerry. I will take care of it. I will cherish it. I will remember with it.....my husband walked into a used book store today. He saw your book, opened it and there it was. Your signed copy to Jerry! I don't know how or why, but it's now on my altar with a candle lit and a prayer said. As I wrote in my journal tonight I realized the first time I saw/met you, was a soul retrieval in itself. I remembered who I was. I remembered where I come from. I remembered it all. Gracias mi Maestra.

I am so sorry that I too was unable to meet you in person. I was finishing your book and have been so inspired by your words. My Grandmother took me on the road of healing and taught me the ways of the Curandera when I was very young. As she has aged (now 103 years) we speak of those ways often. I pray that I too may find a great teacher some day like my wise Grandmother to learn many more ways. Thank you for your wind of life and your heart. May I meet you when I sleep.

Oh, Dear Ms. Elena Avila,
I have had your book Woman Who Glows in the Dark for sometime now; and it is this morning that I choose to pick it up again reminding me of the gifts I carry.

I found myself wanting to seek you out perhaps even journey to New Mexico to work with you. So I did what everyone does I googled you here and in finding that you had passed I burst into deep deep tears for the loss of an opportunity to meet you in the physical body.
I'm beside myself having a sense of aloneness flooding my being.

Perhaps I will find you in my sleep time are you will find me there we will meet and work together. I don't now.

With that shared, I am grateful that you have ealked this earth, taught many, loved many, & healed many. You are missed. Deeply, deeply missed.
With love for those that you left behind,
Michele Marlene York
