Elena Eaton-Budge

I still think of Elena often--especially on New Year's Eve, when we used to attend the only truly glamorous dinner party of the year at Elena & Howard's house in Stonington. I also think of taking Elena and Brooke out on the Mystic River in our boat Mussel to scatter Howard's ashes. She had style and spirit in equal measure--such a good role model for us all.

I will never forget Howard and Elena's New Year's Eve dinners at their home in Stonington. Howard in a smoking jacket, Elena in black velvet and pearls. She was the consummate hostess and really knew how to light up a room. No one can possibly replace her.

Elena was a beautiful human being spiritual gracious and worldly

I am very saddened to hear of Elena's passing. I count Elena's friendship as one of the great blessings of my life.
